First Talk
Building Responsible Quantum Technology in the ASEAN Context: What Does It Look Like?
The first talk begins by asking three questions:
What would it mean to build and use quantum technology responsibly?
Who gets to decide why and how we build quantum technologies?
What does equitable quantum impact look like?
In the process of answering these three questions, a roadmap is set out for the themes and topics that would be of relevance to responsible quantum science, tech and innovation(ResQIST), which include, but are not limited to, ethics, DEI, security, geopolitics, diplomacy, techno-nationalism, communication, environmentalism, artscience, enterprise, technoscientific cultures, and policy. The presentation will introduce the present framework around responsible quantum technologies, consider the present landscape of technology and innovation within the ASEAN context, and contextualize ResQIST to present challenges and landscape of technology and innovation in ASEAN.
Speaker: Dr Clarissa Ai Ling Lee, Multimedia University and Asia School of Business
Clarissa Lee is an artscience practitioner and interdisciplinary scholar who has published extensively on issues relating to technology, technoscientific cultures, infrastructures, and artscience. She is a co-convenor for this curated talks series.
Second Talk
Nature meets Quantum Technoloqy
The quantum initiative for Thailand began with the support of the Thai government through its policy on frontier research. As a result, a network of Thai researchers from 17 institutes and 2 startups started working together on quantum technology research. Later, this initiative evolved into the Quantum Technology (QT) Research Initiative Consortium (QTRic, Thailand) with more than 120 members. All of the developments culminated in this talk taking place around a World Heritage Site: The Khao Yai National Park. This talk challenges the audience to discuss how humans could live in harmony with nature in a sustainable environment, with some assistance from QT, drawing on two examples: clean energy and the interconnection of human minds, lives, and things.
Speaker: Assoc Prof Dr. Worawat Meevasana, Suranaree University of Technology (SUT)
Lead of Quantum Technology Research Initiative Consortium (QTRic, Thailand).
Worawat Meewavana is a physicist with research interests in synchrotron radiation, condensed matter physics and quantum technology. He was the dean of Institute of Science and is currently the deputy director of Technopolis, SUT. He is a co-convenor for this curated talks series.
Third Talk
How Creativity Make Science Meet Art by Technology? (in the quantum era)
The central concept of this talk is “How Creativity Makes Science Meets Art by Technology” in the current quantum era. There are four parts to the exploration at this intersection:
The first part focuses on the “AI-Brain” art project, which combines brainwave analysis, AI, and 3D printing to create art that reflects deep-seated beliefs and neurological patterns. The second part introduces the “QuantumArt” project, a unique blend of technology and culture that merges the intricate principles of quantum mechanics with the rich heritage of Korat. This fusion unveils a dual perspective, seeing quantum concepts as both scientific and artistic, fostering creativity from both angles. The third part highlights how “CreativeLab” sees the collision of art and science as represented through technology to collapse traditional boundaries and innovate at the intersection of these disciplines. The fourth part delves into the “evolution of ghosts and beliefs” in the AI era, examining how these elements can inspire technological innovation. We will explore how the ethereal and the technological converge, opening doors to uncharted creative landscapes and inspiring a future where imagination and innovation walk hand in hand.
Speakers:
Taechasith (Tae) Kangkhuntod (CreativeLab) is interested in integrating beliefs and science through creativity and representing them through AI technology. He uses this concept to develop a passionate team here in Thailand called CreativeLab, of which he is the CEO and Co-founder.
Weeratouch Pongruengkiat (Wave) from Chiang Mai, Thailand, merges tech and creativity at tomorrow.Lab, blending science and art to foster social innovation. With frugal futurism, Wave empowers communities for an inclusive, tech-driven future.
Dear organisers,
I am interested in registering for your initiative. I started to fill out the google registration form and I am missing the policy statement at the end. I will not be able to provide my reply without a clear statement on how my data will be managed which is compliment with GDPR policy. COuld you please be so kind as to add a policy statement?
Best,
Oxana
Dear Oxana,
Thank you for reminding us of this important policy that we have overlooked. We have just added in the policy note to explain the purpose of this data collection. Thanks!
